COVID-19 Service Update

  • Motor Vehicle/Administration offices in Littleton and Centennial are open; Aurora to open June 8
    • Byers Motor Vehicle office will open at a later date. Watch for details.
  • In-person hours of service by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Appointments for the Littleton, Centennial and Aurora Branches can be made online below for:
    • Motor Vehicle registration, license plates and motor vehicle titles
  • No driver’s license appointments at this time. Customers will need to visit a state office for this service. 
  • Please note: The Clerk and Recorder is limiting in-person appointments to two people maximum. Cloth face coverings or masks are required.

Questions

To better serve our customers, the Motor Vehicle phone line is open Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Members of the public can reach the Motor Vehicle division by calling 303-795-4500 and following the prompts for Motor Vehicle. 

You may also fill out and submit the Motor Vehicle and License Assistance Form and we’ll respond to you as soon as possible. Note that we are unable to take requests for appointments via this form. Please make an appointment through the Make an Appointment tool above.

Driver License

Currently Arapahoe County is not booking Driver License Appointments. The State Division of Motor Vehicle has a web page dedicated to Driver License questions during the COVID-19 closures. Visit the State web page for more information

Motor Vehicle

Please see below for the questions we are seeing from our customers most frequently for Motor Vehicle during the COVID-19 closure:

Transactions Requiring Emissions- Please visit the State website to fill out the Request for an Extension form

Dealer Documents- We are currently coordinating drop-boxes for customers and dealers to facilitate easy document transfers at our offices. At this time, dealers can either make an appointment for drop-off, or continue to mail documents in. Documents may be sent via UPS/Fed-Ex directly to our Littleton location at this time, or mailed in to the PO Box below:

Late Fee Waivers- Arapahoe County will be waiving late fees for registrations and other time-sensitive transactions that were due during the COVID-19 closure, which began on March 17, 2020.

Law Enforcement- Law enforcement has been contacted by both Arapahoe County and the State of Colorado, alerting them to the challenges many entities and customers face in renewing temporary tags and registrations that expire during the COVID-19 closure. Law enforcement has been asked to be lenient during this time in issuing these citations. Drivers may continue to use expired registration tabs and/or temporary license plates that have expired while awaiting counties to reopen to the public.

Online/Mail-in Transactions- Many transactions can be completed online at https://mydmv.colorado.gov. Arapahoe County Motor Vehicle is accepting mail-in payments for several transactions temporarily during this closure, and will be suspending our regular requirement for checks to be over $10.00. If you cannot complete these transactions online, please mail in the following for each request via USPS:

  1. Duplicate Registration Tabs- Name, Phone Number, License Plate number, Last 8 digits of VIN number, Check for $4.17 made out to Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder- Motor Vehicle
  2. Duplicate Registration- Name, Phone Number, License Plate number, Last 8 digits of VIN number, Check for $4.00 made out to Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder- Motor Vehicle
  3. Duplicate License Plates- Name, Phone Number, License Plate number, Last 8 digits of VIN number, Check for $8.06 made out to Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder- Motor Vehicle
  4. Duplicate Disability Placard- Name, Phone Number, License Plate number, Last 8 digits of VIN number, NO FEE, if it is the 4th renewal, will need DR 2219 form enclosed and filled out/signed
  5. Duplicate Title- Name, Phone Number, License Plate number, Last 8 digits of VIN number, Check for $8.20 made out to Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder- Motor Vehicle, DR 2359A enclosed and filled out/signed
