After receiving several reports over the course of a month of a man making unlawful sexual contact with teenaged females in the area of E. Dry Creek Road and S. University Boulevard, Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office investigators conducted an intensive surveillance operation that resulted in the arrest of a Denver man for suspected sexual assault on a child.
Deputies took reports of unlawful sexual contact in November and early December. The reports involved females in the area of the 7500 block of S. University Boulevard and inside the Starbucks at 7521 S. University Blvd. The reports indicated that each of the females was approached from behind by a man who grabbed their buttocks.
On Dec. 11, 2017, at about 6:00 a.m., investigators were conducting surveillance at the Starbucks when a man matching the suspect’s description entered the business. An alert Starbucks employee familiar with the reports informed investigators that this was, indeed, the man they recalled seeing at the time the previous reports were made. A previous victim, who was coincidentally also in the business, also identified the man as the suspect in her case. The man was contacted by investigators and taken into custody.
Investigators arrested 40-year-old Sergio Gallegos-Munoz, of Denver. He was booked into the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility on three counts each of sexual assault on a child and unlawful sexual contact.
