[ARCHIVED] Investigation On-Going in Shooting Near Broadway and Arapahoe

NEWS lettering

Just after 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting in a parking lot in the 400 block of E. Highline Circle. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Adolf Arellano, of Denver.

The suspect was described as white female with purple hair. Investigators received numerous tips from the community and were able to identify a possible location for the suspect in an apartment at a nearby building. The suspect did not come to the door after numerous attempts to make contact.

Given the potential for weapons, nearby apartments were evacuated and the SWAT team was activated while investigators applied for a search warrant. Once the warrant was received, the apartment was entered and was found to be vacant. Investigators are continuing to follow up on leads to locate the suspect. During the evacuation, residents were housed at the complex clubhouse. Residents were able to return to their homes at about 12:15 a.m.

Based on information obtained at this point, investigators do not believe this was a random shooting.

Anyone with information about this crime or the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
