5 Things to Know About Public Health

Public Health

Arapahoe County Public Health is on schedule to begin serving residents and businesses on Jan. 1, 2023. Here are five things you should know about your new full-service health department.

  1. Continue to contact Tri-County Health Department through the end of 2022. Arapahoe County Public Health will be happy to work with you in 2023 but cannot do so before Jan. 1.
  2. We’ll have offices in Aurora, Englewood, and Greenwood Village. Public Health operations have long histories of operating out of the County’s buildings at Altura Plaza and Englewood. But to make sure that we can continue to serve residents in locations that are familiar, the County has taken over the leases for the Aurora South location and Willow building in Greenwood Village.
  3. We’ll provide consumer protection services. That includes limiting the spread of disease by inspecting restaurants, childcare facilities, body art facilities, public swimming pools, and septic systems. Diseases, like pertussis, will be tracked and staff will be prepared to respond to public health emergencies.
  4. There will be services for community health, like immunization and sexual health clinics and strategies aimed at reducing negative consequences associated with drug use. We’ll also provide services for income-eligible residents like WIC and home nurse visits for first-time moms.
  5. You’ll be able to request birth and death certifications for anywhere in Colorado online or in-person.

For more information, follow Arapahoe County Public Health on Facebook and Twitter using @healthyarapahoe. We’re also on NextDoor. Look for the launch of a full public health website at arapahoegov.com/health later this month.
