The Arapahoe County Board of Commissioners has approved the County’s budget for 2022. This budget provides funding for services, programs, and projects that support the mission, vision, and valuesof the Board, and it helps ensure that the County meets its objectives of practicing fiscal responsibility, putting service first and improving the quality of life for all County residents.
The County’s fiscal year mirrors the calendar year, running from January 1 through December 31, and the overall budget includes the annual budgets for Arapahoe County, the Arapahoe County Recreation District, Arapahoe County Building Finance Corporation, the Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater Public Improvement District, and the Arapahoe Law Enforcement Authority.
The monthslong process had County departments and elected officials seek and submit voluntary reductions from their budgets wherever possible, and it also prescribed that any increased spending be offset by corresponding reductions in operating expenses elsewhere within departments or elected offices. The County’s 2022 budget has taken into account the widespread economic volatility of the past few years, as well as projections for the coming year. In 2022, the County’s primary source of revenue, commercial and residential property tax collections, will reflect the properties’ appraisal values established in 2021. (The County appraises its properties every odd-numbered year.)
