Did you know Arapahoe County’s parks, trails and open spaces are funded by a voter-supported, quarter-cent Open Space Sales and Use Tax? More than 62% of the tax revenues are distributed directly back to local agency partners through our Shareback (50%) and Grants (12%) Programs. This funding makes critical projects possible—and contributes to a high quality of life for Arapahoe County residents.
“In an unprecedented year of challenges, our local parks, trails and open spaces have graced us with the much-needed opportunity to enjoy nature, play, breathe and be active,” says Nancy Jackson, Chair of the Board of County Commissioners. “These places are critical to the health and well-being of our residents—and to our future. Now more than ever, I am reminded of the power of partnerships and the direct impact of the Open Spaces program on communities across the County.”
