Have you heard of pickleball? It’s a fast-growing, all-ages sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. Last month, we joined the City of Greenwood Village for a celebration of two brand-new pickleball courts at Westlands Park. The courts were constructed on an existing concrete pad, initially built as an inline hockey rink, with the support of a $90,000 Arapahoe County Open Spaces grant. Over the years, the popularity of inline hockey had declined and the City increasingly received requests from the community for pickleball courts, making this the perfect site for a cost-effective conversion. We think we’ll be seeing a lot of happy pickleball players at Westlands Park! Check it out for yourself at 5701 S. Quebec Street in Greenwood Village.
