Arapahoe County is fortunate to have strong support from our community – voters, municipalities, recreation districts, nonprofits and businesses alike – which allows us to invest millions of dollars annually in the outdoors through our quarter-cent Open Space Sales and Use Tax. It is with great pleasure that we present the 2019 Arapahoe County Open Spaces Annual Report.
In 2019, we distributed $14 million in shareback funding to participating municipalities. Additionally, we awarded $6 million in grants to support playground renovations, tennis court improvements, new trail construction and safe trail crossings. We broke ground on Long’s Pine Grove, a new park and trailhead along the High Line Canal in unincorporated Arapahoe County; the completed park opened to the public in July! We kicked off a master plan update that will define our goals and guide our way for the coming decade. Please download the 2019 Annual Report for additional highlights.
As we all know, the job is never done. As the fastest growing county in Colorado and likely the most populous county in the Denver metro area by 2030, Arapahoe County and our local agency partners are continually called to provide high-quality park, trail and open space opportunities for our growing population. We would not be able to meet that call without your partnership.
We appreciate your continued support as we look to the future of the Arapahoe County Open Spaces program.
