[ARCHIVED] Sheriff promotes four command staff members

Sheriff David C. Walcher has appointed Louie M. Perea as Undersheriff of the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office. Undersheriff Perea started with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office in 1986, and has served in the following areas: Patrol Services; Investigation Services; the Professional Standards Bureau; and, the Detention and Administrative Services Bureau. Undersheriff Perea earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Metropolitan State College of Denver, graduated from Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, attended the Daniels College of Business Public Safety Leadership Program and served as an assessor for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). Undersheriff Perea will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative management and operations of the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office to include patrol, investigations, budget and logistics, human resources, professional standards and detention services.

Sheriff Walcher appointed Glenn B. Thompson as Bureau Chief of the Public Safety Bureau, where he will be responsible for the daily operations of the Patrol and Investigation Services sections. Chief Thompson began his career at the Sheriff’s Office as an Explorer and was hired full time in 1988. Chief Thompson earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Metropolitan State College of Denver, graduated from Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, attended the Daniels College of Business Public Safety Leadership Program and is currently attending the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy.

Sheriff Walcher appointed Christopher E. George as Captain of the Public Safety Bureau, Patrol Services, where he will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of patrol services. Captain George earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Metropolitan State College of Denver, attended the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and attended the Daniels College of Business Public Safety Leadership Program.

Sheriff Walcher appointed Laurie A. Halaba-Riedmuller as Captain of Detention and Administrative Services Bureau, where she will be responsible for the administrative section of the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility. Captain Halaba-Riedmuller earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Metropolitan State College of Denver, earned a Master Degree in Organizational Leadership from Colorado State University and attended the Daniels College of Business Public Safety Leadership Program. Captain Halaba- Riedmuller is the first female Captain in Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office history.
