Back the Blue K-9 Force to present sheriff’s office with $20,500 for K-9 unit

K-9 Zero

BTBK9, a nonprofit which helps fund safety and medical needs for law enforcement, raised the money by holding fundraising events at Chick-fil-A, Culvers, CoBank, Colonna’s Pizza, Parry’s Pizza, and the Prevail Group. The nonprofit gives 100% of the donations to several law enforcement agencies to support their K-9 units.

“We would not be where we are today without those businesses wanting to help,” said Diane Lewis, BTBK9 co-founder. “Together, we’re making people aware there’s a need to step up and help the ACSO’s four-legged partners. The safer the dogs are, the safer they can keep their partners.”

The nonprofit has been supporting the ACSO K-9 unit since March 2016 after it learned some agencies can’t afford expensive protective equipment and medical procedures because of limited funding. Since then, BTBK9 has funded K-9 trauma kits, breakaway muzzles, body armor, protective footwear, surgeries, and the purchase of five dogs at the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
