Johnson was originally held on charges of attempted first degree murder. However, after the victim, Anthony Cunningham, 46, was pronounced deceased on February 18, 2019, the charges were amended against Johnson to first degree murder.
ACSO dispatch received an emergency call around 9:20 a.m. on February 17, 2019 from a passerby stating she saw a man on the ground at the high school. Minutes later, a man called the sheriff’s office and said he had shot his neighbor and was now in his home. Deputies responded to Johnson’s home nearby and he turned himself in.
Johnson is being held in the Arapahoe County Detention facility.
