[ARCHIVED] Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office is Showing Our Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Pink Patch

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the Pink Patch Project, a public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer. During October, employees of the Sheriff’s Office will demonstrate their support by wearing pink hat patches and uniform pins. The iconic pink ribbon will also adorn our patrol vehicles.

Sheriff’s Office staff knows that breast cancer awareness is not about a pink ribbon. It is about supporting breast cancer research and helping both women and men access resources for early detection and intervention. With that goal in mind, the Sheriff’s Office has partnered with Littleton Adventist Hospital (LAH), part of Centura Health, to provide our pink patch products to the community, with net proceeds going to support The Breast Care Center at LAH.

The funds we are raising may seem insignificant on a national level, but locally, we can help financially by reducing the challenges in access to state of the art breast care screening, imaging, and treatment. An estimated one in seven women in Colorado will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, and about 2,500 men will receive the same diagnosis this year alone. The goal of the Pink Patch Project is to increase awareness about the life-saving benefits of early detection and intervention in the fight against breast cancer.

To view the selection of Pink Patch Products, please visit project page on our website. Products are available throughout October at the LAH gift shop, located inside the hospital at 7700 S. Broadway, in Littleton. Go pink and help us help our community!

About the Pink Patch Project: The Pink Patch Project began as a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Association and other public safety agencies in Los Angeles County. It has become an international initiative to support breast cancer awareness and research.
