During inclement weather or other emergencies, the Colorado State Patrol (unincorporated areas) and/or sheriff's office (contract cities) may place the county on accident alert. Media outlets will be notified when we go on accident alert, and the status change will be posted on Twitter. During an accident alert, CSP troopers and/or ACSO deputies will only respond to serious accidents involving injuries, hit and run, DUI/DUID or when damage is so severe that the vehicles cannot safely be moved off of the roadway and out of traffic. In all other cases, people who get in an accident should exchange information with the other driver(s) and submit a counter report of the accident online.
