Pre-Release Job Skills

Pre-Release Job Skills Workshops are available for inmates who have three months or less remaining on their sentence. The primary goal of this program is to provide the inmates with the necessary skills to assist them in finding and retaining employment after their release.

A key element to success for recently released inmates is finding full-time gainfull employment. Studies indicate that this is a significant deterrent to recidivism. Various topics explored during the workshops include Job Values and Interests; Barriers to Employment; Preparing Resumes and the Job Application Process; and Keeping the Job.

Pre-Release is operated as a collaborative effort between the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office and Arapahoe/Douglas Works! The supportive services consist of job assistance for felons, clothing, food, transportation, etc. Hopefully these services will increase the recently released inmate's chances for a successful reintegration into the community.
