Colorado is home to four species of foxes.
Red foxes are part of your local ecosystem. They have an important role in controlling populations of mice, voles, snakes, insects, pigeons and more.
Wildlife regulations prohibit the trapping and relocation of red foxes.
Tips for coexisting with foxes:
feed a fox – Foxes that are fed by humans lose their fear of humans.
Do not leave pet food outside, day or night.
Never encourage foxes to come near you or into your yard.
Repel foxes from areas using ammonia-soaked rags or mothballs.
Supervise small pets and never allow pets to play with foxes.
