Youth Awards

Program Details

The Arapahoe County Mayors and Commissioners Youth Award (ACMCYA) recognizes high school seniors (12th grade) who live in and attend school in Arapahoe County who have overcome personal adversity and created positive change in their lives.

Mission of the ACMCYA

To identify and recognize teenagers who have overcome obstacles and risen to challenges life has presented. This award is unique because it encompasses youth in traditional classroom settings, group homes, alternative schools, and emancipated youth.

This program provides business, community and civic leaders an opportunity to actively demonstrate their support for the young people in our communities. If you would like to know more about supporting the youth, please call 303-795-4630 or email Cecilia Zapata.

Scholarships and Youth Recognition

Please be sure to review the application and the instructions carefully before completing and submitting. The ACMCYA recognizes seniors in high school with scholarship checks sent to their respective college to defray their first year college costs.

Youth recognition certificates will be given to middle school nominees to honor their efforts in overcoming personal challenges and for promoting positive change.

Each nominee must write an essay of a few paragraphs that includes what they hope to accomplish this year and any future plans or ambitions they might have.  Nominees must also include a reference.
